Andrew Britton has played since he could walk. His first club team was the Manhattan Beach Hurricanes where he played from 1992-1997. Then it was 4 years (1998-2002) and a StateTitle while playing on FRAM Forrest. Andrew ended his club career with nationally ranked NHB Black from 2002-2003.
Andrew attended Mira Costa High School where he started as a goalie on the Varsity for three years, captaining his team his junior and senior seasons. He earned All Bay League First Team honors all three years he played varsity. He was also selected to the All Area First Team his junior season and All CIF 3rd Team his junior and senior seasons.
After graduating high school in 2003, with few scholarship offers on the table, the decision was easy for Andrew to move to England and pursue his childhood dream of playing professional soccer. His first destination was Sheffield where after two weeks on trial with Sheffield United he signed his first professional contract. He played little for the US U-19 and Reserve teams and was subsequently loaned out to Bradford Park Avenue (BPA) for the last 2 months of the season to gain first team experience. While with BPA, Andrew and his team we able to win promotion to the Conference North. With BPA now at a decent standard Andrew signed a two year deal with them. He spent the next season playing every game for them and despite a battling effort BPA was relegated. Because of the drop in standard after relegation Andrew decided to move clubs and would wind up in Scotland playing for Dundee FC in the Scottish First Division. After three years of bad weather, bad food, injuries piling up and being homesick, Andrew decided to move back to California and pursue a Coaching career.
Andrews coaching career began when he was in Sheffield. He spent two years coaching goalies at the Sheffield United Academy’s goalie clinic held weekly. When he moved home he became assistant at El Camino College where he has been for 3 years and continues on today.Andrew has also spent a summer coaching for MLS Camps and Club Chivas. He got his first head coaching job at Serra High School in Gardena last year and continues there today where he coaches Girl’s Vvarsity and Junior Varsity.
Andrew’s goals for coaching are to coach his BU-11 Fram CQ White team to the peak of there ability (Hopefully one day a National Championship) and have them graduate off to college or the pros. After that he wants to coach at a University, then the pro’s, then lead the US Men’s team to there first ever World Cup title (If they haven’t won it by then).
