OUR CLUB
FRAM Soccer Club is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to youth soccer.   FRAM has a formal structure with an Executive Committee and Youth Board. Bylaws for the Club are in place that dictate the way the Club functions and methods by which Officers and other members are elected to the Executive Committee or Youth Board.

FRAM is in the process of finishing out one of its most successful seasons in recent history, in part due to the hiring of Richard Boon as the new Director of Coaching and Player Development. Boon is a highly qualified coach and coach instructor who holds the USSF National Youth License, USSF National A License as well as the UEFA License.

THE COACHING STAFF
In addition, to Richard Boon, FRAM coaches are among the most qualified and experienced in the South Bay.  Our coaching staff has dozens of years of playing and coaching experience including professional, US National Team, Olympic Development Program, NCAA, College, High School and Club coaching and playing experience.  Our teams are trained and coached by licensed, top quality, experienced coaches.  Many of our coaches are also currently coaching at the professional, semi-professional, college or high school level.  Most FRAM coaches have A, B or C USSF Licenses.  All FRAM coaches will have at least at D level License by the start of the 2011-2012 Coast Soccer Season.

U8 – U10 players – players who will be offered roster spots will be contacted by the FRAM coach within a week of our last tryout date.  Contact will either be by email or phone.  At that time, the coach will either offer a roster spot on a specific team or request that the player return for additional evaluation or practices.  You will be asked for your commitment to the team at that time and arrangements will be made to collect the player registration paperwork and player fee deposit.

U11-U14 players – After the initial tryout session, players under consideration for roster spots will be asked to attend the Invitation-Only Tryout session.  After that Invitation-Only session, players who will be offered roster spots will be contacted by the FRAM coach within a week.  Contact will either be by email or phone.  At that time, the coach will either offer a roster spot on a specific team or request that the player return for additional evaluation or practices.  You will be asked for your commitment to the team at that time and arrangements will be made to collect the player registration paperwork and player fee deposit.

CLUB COMMITMENT
The success of our Club is dependent upon the commitment of the club, team and players to each other.  Part of the registration to play on a FRAM team includes the agreement of the player and parent to adhere to the FRAM Player Parent Agreement which clearly delineates the Club policies and commitment of the Club, players and their parents.

FRAM teams participate in the Coast Soccer League (CSL), www.coastsoccer.com, gaming circuit of the California Youth Soccer Association – South (CYSA), www.calsouth.com.  The CSL season, referred to as “league play”, runs from September through mid-December.  Many teams also participate in the National/State or Cal Cup tournaments that take place in the February (U9-U13) or April (U14- U19).  Upon completion of State Cup or Cal Cup, teams continue to train in preparation of the tryouts for the following season or in preparation for Spring League.  Most Younger teams (U9-U12) attend Spring League as a means of seeing how potential new players mesh with others on the roster.

Travel is generally an important element of Club soccer.  During league play half the games are home games, which would be played at one of the local FRAM fields.   Depending upon the bracket a team is playing in, away games may require travel of 20-90 minutes.   Higher level teams can expect longer travel distances.  League games are usually on either Saturday or Sunday, but there are occasions when a team may have both a Saturday and Sunday game, especially for U14 and older.  Schedules for league play are not available until late August.

During the summer training period teams typically attend 2-4 tournaments.  These tournaments are usually close enough that overnight stay is not required.  However, teams often select at least one tournament that would require overnight stay as a means of team bonding and getting families and players together.  Generally teams stay together at the same hotel so that families have the ability to enjoy swimming, team dinners and other activities.

CLUB COSTS
It is important to note that the per player team fee is meant to include all expenses (except for backpacks, warm-ups, hotel & travel expenses) that the team will incur on behalf of its players so that parents are not constantly being asked to make additional payments that were not identified at the time the player made the decision to join the team.  At other clubs in our area, the initial fees that are quoted for players do not include many of the items listed above, and families ultimately end up paying much more than was originally anticipated.

In general, the cost for the full year will range from $1,800 to $2,200.  The payment of these fees will be split up between the team and the Club.  Parents should expect to make a team payment very soon after they accept a roster spot on the team. Club payments are due no later than May 1st, July 1st and September 1st.  The team payments are also generally spread out, with the final payments due by October or sooner.  Club fees can be paid via credit card. Most teams participate in various fundraising activities throughout the year to help reduce the amount of fees parents are required to pay.  The FRAMFEST Car Raffle, Silent Auction and opportunity for team booths has been a very successful way for teams and individual families to reduce their out of pocket payments.
